I’m ‘chuffed’ as my mother would say (which means ‘happy’ in British slang).
Chuffed to have the distinction of being the first artist to finish one of Frank Marraffino’s fantastic scripts and chuffed to have gotten the opportunity to work closely on a project with a man whose work I have respected and admired since my friend (his former editor at DC) first gave me the synopses for his fantastic reboot of the old DC classic series Haunted Tank. Very few recent titles from Vertigo seem to have captured the spirit of the classic Vertigo title with quite the same level of success.Frank surprised us again with his incredible run on Marvel Zombies Supreme, which you should certainly pick up if you haven’t already.
When I saw this script, I knew I had to draw it. I’d just worked on my own spoof of Trek and now Star Wars needed a taste of its own medicine. I have to say that working with Frank was a positive experience from start to finish. He was always willing to listen to my ideas and shoot me emails, even when I know he’s working on bigger things. If it was down to me and the script alone, I know this comic wouldn’t be half as entertaining.
We hope you like these pages, they took enough time to put together (what with some real life getting in the way), and if so, you should stay tuned for more of Frank’s scripts. We’ve got both Nate Bear and Lisandro D. Pasquale working on two more of his awesome stories right now. I can tell they’re going to be fantastic when they’re finished!
We’ll have some Marraffino related prizes waiting for you next week, so watch this space!
That’s all for now!
